FAS 163, Accounting for Financial Guarantee Insurance Contracts (an interpretation of FASB Statement No. 60), addresses the diversity that has existed in the accounting for financial guarantee insurance contracts by insurance enterprises under FAS 60.

It clarifies how FAS 60 applies to financial guarantee insurance contracts, including the recognition and measurement of premium revenue and claim liabilities, as well as requiring expanded disclosures about financial guarantee insurance contracts.

This course will provide a background of FAS 163 as well as the scope, rules, and disclosure requirements of the Statement.
