Things have grown more complex in recent years as the forms of business organization have expanded, and tax rules on the federal, state, and local levels have changed. Making effective tax decisions when starting a business can mean the difference between success and failure.
This course reviews some of the key issues that new business owners need to resolve when getting started. It also covers issues to consider when terminating a business.
Topics covered include: seven key factors that should be taken into account when selecting the choice of entity; treatment of start-up costs; Employer Identification Number; Electronic Federal Tax Payment System; choice of tax year and accounting method; and tax considerations in terminating a business.
