Retirement Savings for Small Businesses
Author: CCH Editorial Staff

Description:
The Internal Revenue Code provides a variety of tax-advantageous vehicles through which employees may save funds for retirement. In addition, employers can offer retirement plans for employees that create tax advantages for both parties.

However, many small employers may be tempted to dismiss the idea of establishing a retirement plan for their workers as too difficult or expensive. This course explores the many tax advantages of retirement plans for small employers and the features of qualified plans that can reduce both the cost and complexity of implementing and maintaining them.

Topics covered include:

  • Types of benefit plans
  • Tax and nontax advantages of qualified retirement plans for employers and employees
  • General features of qualified retirement plans
  • How to set up a qualified retirement plan
  • How to administer a qualified retirement plan
  • How to terminate a qualified retirement plan
