Description: The National Single Audit Sampling Project began as an attempt to assess single audit quality using statistical methods. The Report on this project highlighted disparities and deficiencies in single audit quality that many people in both the regulatory and the auditing communities find alarming. Auditors and regulators alike have launched into earnest consideration of the entire single audit process, with a view toward improving its quality and effectiveness. This course discusses the objectives, scope and methodology of the National Single Audit Sampling Project, explores in detail its results and recommendations, and considers its implications for single audit practice, including some of the initiatives underway to address the findings and recommendations.
